Shaun & Sally Parkyn

Always preferring the Irish horse, we began sourcing seriously in Ireland in 1984.

Shaun and I both grew up surrounded by horses and ponies, but our progress through the disciplines took very different paths. Shaun was a National Hunt jockey, first as an amateur then as a professional, where he rode over fifty winners.

I, on the other hand was always involved in show jumping, and aside from competing myself worked for Nelson Pessoa, Trevor Banks and lastly Paddy McMahon. With Paddy, and owner Fred Hartill, I was fortunate to travel the world with the great horse Pennwood Forge Mill, who was European Champion and King George V Cup winner in 1973.

Shaun and I met in 1979, when we were producing horses from adjacent yards. We married at the end of the same year and soon departed from our chosen equine spheres to specialise in the selling of event horses. We bought and sold several Badminton and World Championship horses in the early years, including Euphemism, Snowy River, Mungo Jerry, Harbour Lights, Chappaqua and Hallo Again.




In 2004, when our son and daughter Tom and Bryony left home, we fulfilled a long term plan to move to Ireland. Now settled in a beautiful part of Co Kilkenny we have downsized the equine operation, but still keep a few potential event horses at home. I am also a selector for the GORESBRIDGE GO FOR GOLD SALE and the MAY SELECT sale of event horses, and a regular judge at the young event horse classes.

In addition, I have fallen into a career as an equine journalist, covering all the sport horse sales and much of the eventing for The Irish Field. In doing this, we both get to see a huge amount of horses, thus a natural progression is to source horses for third parties.

Our clients are mainly old ones, many of whom are friends. Through word of mouth this has been extended and we welcome calls from anyone seeking Irish event horses of any level.
